NEW YORK, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Association of Iranian-
Americans in New York (AIA-NY) and their friends held a noisy but
dignified rally in front of the United Nations to protest the
recent spate of executions in Iran, including one by stoning
earlier this month. Those born in Iran are all exiles from their
homeland, having fled persecution by the tyrannical regime.
Speakers at the rally called attention to the fact that according
to reports by Amnesty International at least 139 people have been
executed in Iran, and since the beginning of 2007, a total of 450
death sentences issued in the two years of Ahmadinejad's
presidency. Another point emphasized by several speakers was the
fact that political prisoners are being executed under trumped
charges of murder and rape. Addressing the spirited group was C.W.
Professor Rabbi Daniel M. Zucker who noted that such a rally would
be strictly forbidden in Iran today and that if held would lead to
attacks by government-sponsored thugs and arrest and imprisonment
by the dreaded SSF (State Security Forces) of the Revolutionary
Guards Corp. Also addressing the rally was Long Island jeweler Mr.
Saatchi who has lost over 80 members of his extended family to the
cleric regime's draconian religious dictatorship courts. Mr.
Saatchi called on all International human rights organizations and
United Nations to call upon Iranian regime to stop executions
urgently. DATASOURCE: Association of Iranian-Americans in New York
