Editorial: Telsa’s Autopilot may be ‘unsafe at any speed’
An accident in Maltby involving a Tesla and a motorcycle raises fresh concerns amid hundreds of crashes.

Last Friday, a 28-year-old motorcyclist died after he was struck from behind by a Tesla on Fales Road in Maltby and thrown from his bike. A Washington State Patrol report alleges that the 56-year-old driver of the vehicle had activated the 2022 Model S’s autopilot feature, which, as explained on Tesla’s website, is intended to match the speed of surrounding traffic and assist steering within a clearly marked lane.

Tesla owners and drivers are told — with prompts reminding before driving — that Autopilot and the self-driving feature, which adds capabilities including auto-steering and turns on city streets and streetlight and stop sign control, that the vehicle is not autonomous and requires “active driver supervision,” including keeping hands on the steering wheel.

The Tesla driver in the fatal Maltby crash told a trooper he was distracted by his phone prior to the accident. After determining the driver was not impaired, he was arrested and booked for investigation of vehicular homicide while driving distracted. The man posted $100,000 bail Sunday and was released from jail.

But last weekend’s fatal accident wasn’t an outlier.

Hutchison Effect & Teslas Whompy Wheel issue

Jain is one of tens of thousands of Tesla owners who have experienced premature failures of suspension or steering parts, according to a Reuters review of thousands of Tesla documents. The chronic failures, many in relatively new vehicles, date back at least seven years and stretch across Tesla’s model lineup and across the globe, from China to the United States to Europe, according to the records and interviews with more than 20 customers and nine former Tesla managers or service technicians.

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/tesla-musk-steering-suspension/

The exact cause of the Hutchison Effect is unknown in public spheres as it is classified under national security. However the most likely culprit seems to be a combination of electromagnetic sources coming together in a way to change the makeup of metals leading to their rusting, softening, fracturing, complete breaking, even dustification. Keep in mind the degree of metal materials that are within our buildings and infrastructure...even in concrete. Maybe this is why we are seeing an increase in building and bridge collapses?

The computer errors from outer space

With the rise of self-driving car technology, it's possible that computer systems on these vehicles could malfunction due to cosmic rays. What if, during an automated trip, imagery from a camera mounted at the front of the car became corrupted and the on-board computer failed to spot a person walking out in front of the vehicle?
However, the research is yet to be published and he says he's not allowed to reveal what the starting level of accuracy was during the experiments.

Such interventions could make self-driving cars of the future safer but they wouldn't eliminate the possibility of a cosmic ray causing other problems. And this raises an interesting conundrum for insurers.

"In a world of fully autonomous vehicles, how can you prove the accident happened because of cosmic rays?" says Rech. "That is very challenging. I mean, it's impossible, by definition." In ambiguous cases, disputes over whether a human or technology manufacturer – or space weather – was at fault might be difficult to resolve
Understand that EVs are just computers on wheels. So while Cosmic radiation/earth based radiation caused accidents are near impossible to prove, they can and do happen. Can even be emulated in a lab setting. THIS IS WHY SELF DRIVING VEHICLES WILL NEVER SAFELY REACH LEVEL 5! To make matters worse the earths magnetic field is weakening which will mean more solar/cosmic radiation will enter our planet as well as more EM radiation exposure from the earth leading to more computer errors. Incidentally its been claimed that SpaceX and other manufacturer satellite debris will accelerate this weakening process weakening as much as 50% over the remainder of the 21st century.

RECREATING THE “STUCK THROTTLE” PROBLEM ON A TOYOTA

While most passenger vehicles older than about 15-20 years controlled the throttle with a cable connected directly from the throttle body to the accelerator pedal, most manufacturers have switched to a fly-by-wire system which takes sensor input from the accelerator pedal and sends that position information to the vehicle’s computer which in turn adjusts the throttle position. This might be slightly cheaper to manufacture, but introduces a much larger number of failure modes to a critical system.

[Colin] is recreating one of those failure modes by introducing an electromagnetic pulse at a specific point on the vehicle’s computer. In the real world, this could be caused by certain forms of EMF potentially including cosmic rays. This introduces a memory fault which the computer doesn’t seem capable of recognizing or clearing. With the right set of circumstances that [Colin] can reliably produce, the computer eventually will drive the throttle fully open, and the condition can only be corrected by power-cycling the vehicle’s computer.

Analog is better in this deteriorating enviornment. Thus less tech is better.
If they can manage to make a hydrogen car safe enough without all the tech that maybe worth while. Thats just not likely so older gas cars is the way to go.

Why is it the NHTSA is so quick to investigate Fords BlueCruise but took soo long to really investigate Teslas FSD/Autopilot issues? Fact is all driver assist systems can and will glitch causing accidents. They all need to be banned.

Ford's BlueCruise is the latest driver-assistance system under investigation after 2 fatal crashes

I would have closed my short the 23rd or 24th when price broke the descending wedge and then gone long if i was trading TSLA. However those two gaps will be filled so will be good to short again once this pop is done. Keep an eye out for ARK to start selling for when this is near peak.

Tesla allegedly fires the entire Supercharger team

Following the layoffs of around ten per cent of Tesla’s global workforce, there are increasing indications that the US electric car manufacturer will further downsize. According to a report by The Information, which Reuters and other media picked up, it will first and foremost affect the Supercharger division. The portal cites an internal email from TMusk to senior employees.

The Information reports that Rebecca Tinucci, Senior Director of the Supercharger business, and Daniel Ho, Director of Vehicle Programmes and New Product Initiatives, among others, will be laid off – along with all their employees, including around 500 people from the Supercharger team. “Hopefully these actions are making it clear that we need to be absolutely hard core about headcount and cost reduction,” Musk wrote in the email, the report says.

Among the wins during Musk's trip, which was first reported by Reuters, was a key endorsement from a top Chinese auto association that said Tesla's Model 3 and Y cars were compliant with data-security regulations. That would enable local governments to allow Tesla cars into parts of China they were previously barred from, Chinese media reported, citing a statement from Tesla
The question of whether Tesla can win Beijing's approvals for overseas data transfer remains critical to its plans for FSD in China and for autonomous vehicles globally. Reuters could not determine what progress, if any, Musk made in securing such approvals during his Beijing trip.

Getting approvals in China to sell a so-called "level 2" driver-assistance system such as FSD isn't the hard part. But Tesla has considered the ability to transfer data out of China pivotal to its development of autonomous vehicles.
Reuters seems to be a quality source for information pertaining to reality vs Tesla illusion.
